Blog #5 - Want a Wife / Medea

Judy Brady's essay, "I Want a Wife," is an ingenious wave to describe the roles and men and women in the traditional roles of marriage. Judy Brady was poetic. She managed to take a stab at the men who assume that these roles are a requirement for when they get married without directly saying so. Immediately reading the essay all I could think was, Having a wife is like having you're own personal worker who does everything and anything for you. Heck, if I want to be lazy I could be, and there would be no reprimanding! That's exactly it. There is nothing that I don't admire about the essay. It's almost awe inspiring. Again, a poetic way to "stick it to the man."

This essay completely relates to Medea because like the women in the essay, Medea was a wife and a mother. When Jason left her, she also was immediately assumed full responsibility of the children. Medea did everything for Jason, like the essay alludes that a wife does everything for her husband, including kill several individuals. Medea would sympathize with the women in the essay, because this women share many of the same hardships that Medea has experienced.
