Judy Brady's essay, "I Want a Wife," is very eye opening and blunt. I admire the fact that she writes with a cynical tone. Another part of her essay that I admire that she does not fully want to depend on her spouse for financial support. I also like the fact that she points out how women have wants and needs also, and that it isn't always about what the man feels. The author also distinguishes how many tasks women face when taking on the role of being a wife. Brady's essay shows one side of how men view their wives to be. She also goes to an extreme in some roles of the wife but then I realized that back when this was written (1970's) that was typically how a woman's role was.

What I do not admire about this essay is the fact that not all house wives are demanded these multiple chores. Every family is different and some women like taking care of their children full time. Although Brady makes it sound like this is a hassle, numerous mothers and wives are allowed to balance school and taking care of children. I do not believe that all mothers are exposed to the kind of chores mentioned in the essay. It is very one sided. I feel that she is only stating the bad in a marriage, and skipping out on the good times that are involved. At one point in time a couple has to be happy enough to get married, and she seems to have forgotten that one point.

Her use of writing did not persuade me at all. Although I do like the way that she repeated herself. That definitely ingrained itself in my mind. What makes this piece persuasive is her harsh language use and he shocking attitude towards housewives. This was not very impact making because Brady repeats herself without providing any support of her arguments.

The essay relates to Medea's situation because she was in a relationship where she was taken advantage of. Her feeling's seemed to have been disregarded completely by her husband who left her. The author's feelings are shared with Medea. Both Brandy and Medea share feelings of distaste for all the things that they did not get to do while being married.
