Young Werther had a very extreme case of depression that was cause by his obsession of the young lady Charlotte. Though it started out innocent enough, with every passing event it grew and grew. It grew worse when he quite his job and when he learned of he engagement. Not being able to have Lotte made him almost mad. The only help or advice that would help Werther would be to make him move back and live with his good friend that he writes to. He would be able to watch after Werther and find something to take is mind off of Lotte. That is one of the few things that might have ended his depression and ultimately saved his life.
